Loki bidding to end back to back drought as she continues to fight for her life

Bristol's mayor said she was "really, really, really sick" and was "in excruciating pain" at a press conference held after the incident.

Trevor Soutar said the woman was being treated at Queen's Royal Hospital, but declined to comment further.

Ms Soutar said her sister-in-law was being treated in a hospital in Bristol's North West, but declined to say whether she would travel to Bristol.

The woman was one of eight bidders to be given drinks at a Bristol pub during the opening weekend of the British Beer Awards.

A spokesman for the event told BBC Radio Bristol: "I understand this woman was drunk as she was not sober, but we don't believe it was anything to do with baccarat at the moment."

The BBC's Tim Carrigan in Bristol says the baccarat game is so expensive that contestants, unlike players in poker, can win thousands in a night.

"They are the first thing they have to drink at the start and that could possibly be the reason."

Mr Carrigan said the baccarat is also highly regulated and a public auction could not be held there.

He said she had become "very ill" on the night before she won her place.

"It is unusual to have such a serious illness and the health officials and the coroners do a very thorough search of her room.

"Her condition has clearly deteriorated. She's in very poor health and you can tell that she's not happy with herself."

The baccarat event was due to take place after a night out at the Bristol pub.

The mayor said he was "really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, very very very, very very very".

An NHS spokeswoman said: "We can confirm that someone has suffered a serious injury.
